Love Afloat

January 11, 2013

A wedding on a boat!  Now this is a first for me.  Being one that gets sea sick quite easily, I was hoping my camera might have more sea legs than I.  Turned out, it did!  I met Jen Hankins 3 years ago when she moved into our house in north Seattle.  I remember thinking to myself, "I've never seen someone own so many costumes!"  Jen is the epitome of fun.  And to top it all off (drum role) she's a fisherwoman from Alaska.  What better place to get married than on the boat you've been fishing on for 8 years.  And so they did.

As soon as the boat pulled up, I saw John (groom in the pink tie) getting the boat ready to be docked. (This is the point in which I wish I knew more nautical terminology).  They had rented a small tent to cover them and the guest in case of rain.....yes, it did rain.  It's Seattle people.!

Oh, I forgot to tell you that John is a fisherman too.  This is how they met.

I always thought Jen would be a fabulous event coordinator.  Her gifts explode way beyond the deck and her vision for her own wedding was everything I imagined it would be; delightful, creative and inspired.

It's always such a wonderful feeling to experience the small moments of affection and tenderness between couples.  I love this shot of John and Jen.  It's playful and sweet, AND, i'm in love with her delicate bouquet.

Turns out, love can be found anywhere on land or out at sea.
